Getting out of the Boat

After he fed the 15,000, and after several years of persecution from the Romans, they wanted to make Jesus their King. They had come to the conclusion he was the one they had always heard about, the one who would come to deliver them from their slavery. After all, if Jesus could feed 15,000 with two fish and five crackers, surely he could amass an army big enough to overthrow their Roman occupiers. But instead, knowing that they were coming to make him king by force, Jesus put his disciples on a boat and told them to go to the other side where he would meet them. Then, somehow, he escaped the 15,000 and went up on a mountain to pray.
As the disciples rowed their boat, a furious storm raged threatening to sink the boat. Seeing this from his mountain retreat, Jesus walked down the mountain and onto the water just a few feet from the disciples boat. When they first saw him they were terrified and cried out in fear, "It's a ghost!" But Jesus replied, "Take courage! It is I! Don't be afraid!"
Then Peter, the outspoken disciple and risk taker, said to HIM, "Lord, if it is really you, tell me to come to you on the water." Jesus replied, "Come!"
How many times in our lives has Jesus asked us to get out of the boat? How many times will he in the future? It takes great faith to step out of the boat sometimes. It takes great faith to trust Jesus and to step out of the boat. My question to you is this: What is Jesus asking you to do? When he calls, will you have enough faith to step out of the boat? Only two people in the history of the world have ever walked on water. The first and foremost was Jesus. The second was Peter and the only reason Peter was able to walk on water was because of the twelve disciples, he was the only one who had enough faith to step out of the boat. God Bless and see you tomorrow night.
